What's a brand without a story

In 2013, we began making leather watch bands on the kitchen table of a small East Village apartment. The idea was to hand make quality watch bands and pair them with vintage watches. It was a hobby that grew quickly. By the end of 2013, we had moved into our first work shop in Redhook to keep up with demand.

Time is a valuable currency

Almost as soon as we started crafting the bands, we were designing our first watch in our heads. At its core, Throne is a boutique watch company with a strong emphasis on utilitarian style. We’re obsessed with the timelessness of classic timepieces. We saw an opportunity in the market to release an ethically produced, quality watch at an affordable price. Our flagship watch, the 1.0 was released in early 2014 with those intentions in mind.

Classic with a hint of our history

Throne’s subtle trademarks carry little pieces of our history. We grew up in small North East towns of the US. We made friends by playing in punk bands, going to hip hop shows, and staying out late making memories we might not remember. The alternative subculture has always been a large part of who we are as people- we’ve always been a little different and so are our watches.

The number 13 has different meanings for different cultures. Some believe it’s bad luck, some believe it’s a cleansing number. For us, 13 has been present in Throne since the beginning. It represents upheaval, breaking new ground, and the making of one’s own luck. The number 12 has adorned American watches since the beginning of time. We put a 13 in its place because to us, the number 13 represents Throne.
